Course
Fibrosarcoma are rare. Development is often rapid and may extend over a wide region. They appear as round lumps, which are spread widely around the surrounding tissue. They may feel firm or hard. The surface of a fibrosarcoma may erode away and excrete fluid. Fibrosarcoma commonly occur on the front limbs, shoulders, flanks and the underbelly.
Cause
Some fibrosarcoma may be linked to subcutaneous injection as they often develop around common sites where vaccinations or other drugs have been administered.
Therapy
Due to their tendency to metastasize, if possible, fibrosarcoma are usually removed surgically. Unfortunately, in most cases, they are tightly connected to the surrounding tissue, and removal is therefore often left incomplete. Prognosis for a tumor of this kind is poor.
Emergency measures
Consult a veterinarian if you have noticed that your dog has a suspicious lump on their skin.
